Baldur's Gate 3 gets third consecutive Game Awards nomination

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been nominated for Best Community Support at The Game Awards for the third year in a row, and its developers at Larian Studios are as surprised by the news as they are pleased. After this year’s nominees were announced, the official Baldur’s Gate 3 X account shared the news, thanking players for their commitment.

“It’s a complete honour to have been nominated for Best Community Support again this year, but really, this nomination is a testament to your continued passion and enthusiasm for Baldur’s Gate 3,” the post read.

Larian Studios responded to the post, seeming both baffled and honored in equal measure.

Baldur’s Gate 3 officially launched on PC in August 2023, and went on to win Game of the Year at 2023’s The Game Awards, where it also took home awards for Best Performance (Neil Newbon as Astarion), Best RPG, Best Multiplayer, Player’s Voice, and Best Community Support. In 2024, it was again nominated for Best Community Support, and ended up winning. This year, it’s been nominated for a third time, and honestly, it probably has a pretty good shot at winning.

Though Larian released the game’s final content update back in April of this year, that update was absolutely massive. Patch #8 introduced some long-awaited features like cross-play and photo mode, in addition to introducing 12 new subclasses to the game. Although Larian confirmed Patch #8 would be the end of new Baldur’s Gate 3 content, the studio hasn’t abandoned the game or its players, and still regularly adds bug fixes and quality-of-life updates. The most recent update arrived in September in the form of Hotfix #34, which introduced a native version of Baldur’s Gate 3 for Steam Deck users.

To take home 2025’s Best Community Support award, Baldur’s Gate 3 will have to beat fellow nominees Final Fantasy 14, Fortnite, Helldivers 2, and No Man’s Sky. That might sound like a herculean task, but given the fact that it beat the same four games to take home 2024’s Best Community Support award, it’s certainly possible that Larian will roll another nat 20 and take home the award for the third year in a row.

Now that nominees have been announced, players can cast their votes via The Game Awards website.
