The Celebrity Traitors Series 2 Potential Release Date and Cast Rumours

The Celebrity Traitors recently smashed the BBC’s viewing records, with the first episode drawing in 11.7 million viewers, the highest audience for any unscripted episode in three years.

And it’s no wonder, with iconic moments such as Alan Carr’s profuse sweating problem, Celia Imrie’s farting and banshee wails, and the Faithful being… well, quite frankly, useless.

With two episodes per week, this series will sadly be coming to an end soon. Series 4 of the regular edition is already confirmed, but if you want to know if The Celebrity Traitors will be back for more, we’ve rounded up all the information we know so far.

You can also check out our exclusive interview with season 2 Traitor Paul Gorton, who discusses his predictions for the celeb version and his time on the show.

Will The Celebrity Traitors return for series 2?

The BBC hasn’t yet announced if The Celebrity Traitors will return for series 2, but one of the main three Traitors, Jonathan Ross, has indicated that it will be.

He gave the following quote on his podcast Reel Talk to his co-host and daughter, Honey:

“I know they’re already planning a second celebrity version. I know because I’ve had two celebrity friends of mine call me and say ‘I’ve been approached – is it good to do, is it bad to do?’ So I’m giving them the benefit of my experience, which was that I didn’t enjoy it.”

In addition, executive producer Sarah Fay hinted to Metro about a second series when discussing potential cast future members (more on that below).

Finally, the BBC has already opened applications for series 5 of the main edition, so we know that the show generally is far from over.

Considering all the above, and the runaway success of series 1, we highly expect The Celebrity Traitors will return for series 2. You can also find out when the final episode series 1 will air.

When could The Celebrity Traitors series 2 air?

As series 2 hasn’t been confirmed, it’s hard to predict a release date. However, series 4 of the main series is expected to drop in early 2026, in line with previous instalments.

So, if the show does return and follows the same pattern as this year, it’s likely that The Celebrity Traitors series 2 could air around autumn 2026.

Who could star in The Celebrity Traitors series 2?

While we likely won’t hear an official cast list for a while, executive producer Fay responded to the rumours that comedian Bob Mortimer was going to be involved in series 1: “If Bob wanted to do it next year, we would absolutely love it.”

Fay also listed host Rylan Clark, comedian Kathy Burke and Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies on her wish list for the first series, so they could be approached again.

There have been no other concrete rumours beyond speculation. However, some people who have confirmed to have turned down series 1 include actress Miriam Margolyes, author and host Richard Osman, money expert Martin Lewis and The Apprentice star Baroness Karren Brady.

The latter two names cited busy schedules as a reason that they couldn’t take part. Margolyes had never watched the show and had no intention of doing so, while Osman only wanted to do it if he was guaranteed to be a Traitor, which is never an assured thing.

So, it’s probable that these four people won’t appear in series 2… unless they change their minds after seeing all the hype.

Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper were also reported to have pulled out of series 1 last minute, but this is only based on a second-hand source.

How to watch The Celebrity Traitors in the UK and abroad

The Celebrity Traitors is rolling out episodes now on BBC One and on BBC iPlayer.

To watch it outside the UK, you must use a VPN (virtual private network). The service allows you to bypass regional restrictions and access foreign websites.

If you’re looking for an affordable and reliable option, we recommend NordVPN thanks to it’s easy-to-use interface, reliable servers and range of pricing options.
