With Battlefield 6 getting closer to kicking off season 1 on October 28, Battlefield Studios has released a new community update about the updates that have been made to the game so far, and what kinds of things can players expect to change in time for the first season. Along with this, the developers have also announced that Battlefield Labs will be going into hiatus as development is focused on Battlefield 6 Season 1.

Among the changes that have already been made to Battlefield 6 include adjustments to custom search and improvements to matchmaking with regards to players’ choices for maps and modes, fixing a bug related to vehicles not spawning correctly in some cases, and XP adjustments to community experiences available through Portal.

“Our immediate focus is on overall performance and the combat experience,” wrote the developers in the community update. “As we move forward we’re investigating potential changes on key areas such as weapon dispersion, balance, visibility, aim assist, progression, and more. A number of updates have already been made available and we have more that are planned to rollout over the course of Season 1.”

As for changes that will be coming to Battlefield 6, there is quite a comprehensive list of updates that will be made for the game, ranging from player movement, to progression, and even visibility of various things in the game itself in certain conditions. Player movement is especially going to get more attention, with the developers wanting to address things that felt inconsistent. These changes include fixing animations and changing reticle movement during some animations.

On the progression side of things, the developers are still keeping an eye of things after they made changes last week. However, a few things worth noting include XP in Escalation and King of the Hill modes aren’t always working as the developers intended. To fix this, Battlefield Studios will be raising the XP earned from those modes to bring them in line with other game modes. The release of Season 1 Update 1 on October 28 will also see changes made to weapon dispersion so that the shooter can reflect how each weapon is supposed to feel in terms of accuracy can be improved.

A host of weapon accuracy changes are going to be part of this, including reducing the overall impact of weapon dispersion, while still maintaining the core gameplay of burst-fire offering better and more effective ways to control a weapon’s accuracy.

While Battlefield Labs might be going on hiatus, the studio has also noted some of the things it learned while testing out the battle royale mode for Battlefield 6. Changes have since been made for the mode, including giving players more armor capacity at the start of a match, adjustments made to time-to-kill values at close range for all weapons, and balance adjustments for the map as well as the vehicles.

Battlefield 6 is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our review. As for Season 1, check out all the details in our coverage.
