OnePlus 15 Launch Date and Colours Announced

OnePlus has confirmed when it will unveil its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15.

It would be a stretch to say that a new flagship smartphone season starts when OnePlus unveils its new flagship offering, but it’s definitely become an important signpost along the way. Alongside Xiaomi, OnePlus tends to get in nice and early.

The latter company has now taken to Weibo to announce that it will unveil the OnePlus 15 on 27 October. That’s next Monday.

OnePlus’s post promises (via machine translation) a phone with “Ultra Performance”, likely due to its use of the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. Indeed, the global model of the OnePlus 15 recently cropped up on Geekbench with just such a chip onboard, and promptly wowed with its results.

It also promises to usher in the era of “165 ultra-high framerate gaming” – a reference to the phone’s already-confirmed 165Hz display, as well as the aforementioned boost to processing power.

Alongside this launch date, OnePlus has revealed the three colours in which the OnePlus 15 will be available: Misty Purple, Original Sand Dune, and Absolute Black.

The company also recently confirmed that the phone will boast a huge 7300mAh battery with 120W charging support. A triple 50Mp camera system is also in the pipeline, while the phone’s new more industrial-looking design has already been revealed from multiple angles. It’s looking a little more like the OnePlus 13R (title image) than the OnePlus 13, albeit with a Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold evoking camera module.

As always, we’ll be seeing a China-only launch of the OnePlus 15 a couple of months ahead of a wider rollout. The latter will most likely happen in early January, if the OnePlus 13 is anything to go by.

OnePlus also announced the OnePlus Ace 6 in this latest post, which is expected to be a cheaper flagship alternative. If it travels West, it’ll likely be under some other name.
