Irish co-founded fintech Paygentic raises $2m in seed round

Paygentic co-founder Susan O’Neill is a member of the Fintech Ireland advisory council.

Irish co-founded Paygentic, a fintech start-up freshly out of stealth has raised $2m in a seed funding round. The San Francisco-based company plans to use the raise to grow its workforce and accelerate product development.

Paygentic was founded by Susan O’Neill and Samuel Alarco Cantos earlier this year. O’Neill has a background in finance, having previously found Sulu, a Kilkenny-based payment infrastructure provider for AI products. She is also a member of the Fintech Ireland advisory council.

Meanwhile Alarco is a serial entrepreneur and a former Google engineer specialising in distributed systems and API monetisation.

The duo’s new venture Paygentic has already been backed by several VC firms, including MiddleGame Ventures, which led the seed round, alongside support from Anamcara Capital, Aperture and Angel Invest among others.

Paygentic offers billings and payments capabilities to AI-native and agentic-driven products. According to the company, the start-up offers the tooling and infrastructure to enable AI-native businesses – which have recently passed $15bn in annualised revenue – to monetise their platforms using hybrid, subscriptions, and usage-based and outcome-based models.

Paygentic had been working with a select group of early adopters while being under stealth.

“We built Paygentic because we saw first-hand that traditional billing solutions break the moment things get complex,” said O’Neill.

“AI founders lack the flexible infrastructure needed to price and monetise their products effectively. Getting pricing right is critical for customer success in this extremely competitive market – and that’s exactly what Paygentic delivers.”

Kanishk Walia, a partner at lead investor MiddleGame Ventures added, “AI-native products are redefining how value is created and delivered, yet legacy billing and payments systems can’t keep up with this complexity.

“At MiddleGame Ventures, we see Paygentic as foundational infrastructure for the agentic AI economy and are thrilled to support their growth.”
