Nintendo Ramping Up Switch 2 Production to 25 Million Units by March 2026 End – Rumour

Nintendo has been working hard to ensure that it can sell as many units of the Switch 2 as it possibly can. According to Bloomberg, the company has been in talks with its manufacturing and supply partners for the production of the console, in hopes that it can produce as many as 25 million Switch 2 units by the end of March 2026.

As the report notes, hitting these manufacturing targets will also help Nintendo set sales records for its consoles, especially for the Switch 2’s first year. Nintendo is also seemingly betting on quite a few sales happening over the upcoming Holiday season, as well as into the next year.

With its new production goals, Nintendo will also be able to beat analysts predictions, which had stated that the company will sell 17.6 million units of the Switch 2 by the end of the fiscal year in March. The company’s greater push to manufacturing more units also indicates a strong level of confidence it has in its new console, with sales expectations rising all the way up to roughly 20 million units.

The most recent official sales data we’ve seen for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been from the company’s financial report from back in August. At the time, Nintendo confirmed that it had sold 5.82 million units of the console, while the original Switch still enjoyed strong sales figures, coming in at 153.10 million units. The Switch 2 has also been doing well on the software side of things, with 8.67 million units sold.

To offer some context, Nintendo had also compared these figures with those of previous consoles and games it had sold. The Wii U, for instance, had managed to sell only 13.56 million units throughout its life time, with 103.60 million units of software for the console having been sold. On the other hand, the handheld Nintendo 3DS had sold quite a few more units – almost 76 million – with 392.28 million units of software sold.

The original Nintendo Switch has turned out to be the most successful home console for the company by far, followed by the Wii in second place, which sold 101.63 million units and 921.85 million units of software. The Switch, for comparison’s sake, has sold 1.4 billion units of software since its launch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was launched back in June, and is priced at $449.99. The title was released alongside a host of launch titles, including the first-party kart racer Mario Kart World, which also marked a new standard price for Nintendo’s games thanks to its $80 price tag. Along with this, Nintendo had released the console and game together as a bundle priced at $499.99, making it the best deal if you were going to get the game anyway.
