Following the recent launch of the Honor MagicPad 3, we’re expecting a step-up model some time in October. Prolific tipster Digital Chat Station has just given us our best glimpse yet at this Honor MagicPad 3 Pro.

The leaker has taken to Weibo with core specifications and what appear to be official images of the tablet in three colours.

Honor MagicPad 3 Pro design

First, that design. From the images provided, we’re looking at a large tablet that looks a lot like the aforementioned Honor MagicPad 3. Which is unsurprising, given that the latter shares most of its name and only launched in July.

One key difference illustrated here is the suggestion that there’ll be three colours rather than the two of the non-Pro model. In additional to the latter’s grey and white, there’s a champagne-ish option for the Pro, called ‘Floating Gold’.

Otherwise the design is very similar – though is that a slight edge to the corners of the squircular camera module that we see before us? That’d be a slight (and we do mean slight) departure, if so.

Honor MagicPad 3 Pro specs

Our usually-dependable tipster claims that the Honor MagicPad 3 Pro will come with a 13.3-inch LCD around front, so anyone let down by the 13.3-inch Honor MagicPad 3’s lack of OLED will need to prepare for further disappointment.

It’ll also have a 165Hz refresh rate and a 3200 x 2136 resolution. That sounds a lot like the non-Pro model to us.

In our review of the Honor MagicPad 3, our reviewer found the display to be “actually really good”, despite the lack of OLED punchiness, with a nicely proportioned 3:2 aspect ratio. That 165Hz refresh rate seemed somewhat superfluous, but gamers will doubtless be appreciative.

Talking of which, performance is set for a big bump in the shape of a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. That’s two generations ahead of the MagicPad 3’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, and it’ll also be accompanied by Honor’s own E2 energy efficiency chip.

It’ll share the non-Pro model’s 12,450mAh battery, and of course it’ll run Honor’s MagicOS 10 UI.
