The FBI has released surveillance images of a person of interest in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was addressing students on campus when he was struck by a sniper’s bullet fired from a nearby rooftop. The assassination has sparked nationwide shock and condemnation.
The released images show a male individual, believed to be in his late teens or early twenties, wearing a dark baseball cap, sunglasses, and a long-sleeve black shirt featuring an American flag design. Authorities say the suspect was captured in a stairwell near the scene of the shooting. Investigators have recovered a Mauser .30-06 bolt-action rifle, hidden in a towel in a wooded area close to the university, along with ammunition reportedly engraved with transgender and anti-fascist messages.
The FBI is actively analysing forensic evidence, including palm prints and video footage, to confirm the suspect’s identity. Officials have urged anyone with information about the individual to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing, with local and federal law enforcement coordinating efforts to locate the suspect and determine the motive behind the attack.
The shooting has drawn widespread attention due to Kirk’s prominence as a conservative voice and youth activist. Leaders across the political spectrum have condemned the act, calling for justice and heightened security on public campuses. The FBI’s release of the suspect’s images represents a critical step in the manhunt. Authorities are asking anyone with tips to report them immediately to assist in bringing the individual into custody and preventing further tragedy.
