With the announcement of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, there are doubtless questions regarding the overall response. After the success of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which returns to the series’ stealth roots, one has to wonder if fans would want to engage with another open-world action RPG in the franchise.
However, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reports that pre-orders look “very strong.” The exact numbers aren’t available, but “no one in the know is disappointed with them.” Considering the rumored underwhelming performance of titles like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, this should be good news for the publisher (though it didn’t officially comment on pre-order numbers).
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches on November 15th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It features two protagonists – Naoe, a shinobi, and Yasuke, a samurai. The former evolves the series’ stealth gameplay, while the latter focuses on frontline combat with parries and counters. There are also new mechanics like seasons that alter the map, more destructible objects playing a role in combat, fully dynamic lighting and seamless switching between characters.
