The new location is part of Liberty IT’s plans to further support Ireland’s growing technology sector.

Software company Liberty IT has opened a new office at Bonham Quay, in Galway city centre, as part of the organisation’s strategy to further develop the tech industry across the West of Ireland.

Having first established itself in Galway in 2023 and with a team of 67 people, Liberty IT’s new premises offer a mixture of working areas, collaboration and innovation spaces, a wellbeing room, several meeting rooms and a town hall area to hold internal and external events.

Liberty IT’s managing director Tony Marron stated that the Galway-based location will support the company’s plans to further develop its teams, reaffirm its commitment to the local economy and continue to create high-quality roles in software engineering, data and product.

“Bonham Quay’s sustainability credentials and strong transport connections make it an ideal location for our people, both those based locally and our colleagues visiting from our Dublin and Belfast offices,” said Marron.

“Over the past two years, we’ve become an active part of Galway’s dynamic tech community and we’re extremely proud of the partnerships we’re building across the region with schools, universities and other organisations.

“We’ve created and supported a wide range of fantastic initiatives and events including the Atlantec AI Challenge and our immersive tech school programme, STEAM Studio in partnership with Galway City Museum, plus we have lots of exciting plans for the months and years ahead.”

Galway and Ireland’s west are fast becoming a hub of domestic and international innovation for organisations, with significant investment from companies across a range of industries. For example US health data platform Datavant, Irish medtech Aerogen and UK chip company Arm.

SiliconRepublic.com previously spoke with Marie Donnellan, the CEO of Platform94, about the West’s potential in the wider technology space and the importance of scaling business for domestic and international success.
