Battlefield 6 on Steam Won’t Require the EA App

Battlefield 6 will launch for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and alongside the EA App, it’s coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store. Of course, one of the biggest hurdles for any Steam player is having to log in to the EA App to play. However, similar to Dragon Age: The Veilguard, this won’t be necessary.

The official FAQ confirms that Steam players won’t require the EA App, though an EA account is still necessary. Those who play through the Epic Games Store will need both, further incentivizing a purchase through Steam.

The EA account is likely to facilitate cross-play and potentially cross-progression across platforms. Considering the problems that Steam users have faced in the past with the EA App, this should be good news.

Battlefield 6 launches on October 10th with an open beta planned for August 9th to 10th and August 14th to 17th. DICE hasn’t confirmed the exact content, but it will feature options for equipping weapons on any class and Closed Weapons, restricting choices to the class in question.
