When Jeff Bezos started Amazon in July 1994 in Bellvue, Washington, he never imagined what the sprawling platform would become. Amazon was just a site to conveniently buy books online. Now, consumers can purchase basically anything they want — and it has made Jeff one of the richest men in the world.
Amazon has become the biggest online retailer in the world, and the biggest employer in the United States. Along with retail, it now offers an entertainment platform, Amazon Studios, which produced shows like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, and so much more. Jeff expanded his empire in the 2010s by purchasing Whole Foods and The Washington Post.
