Long before Bezos became a household name as the founder of Amazon, he met Scott while they were both working at the hedge fund D.E. Shaw in New York City in 1992. Scott, who interviewed for a research associate role, later recalled it was “love at first listen” when she heard Bezos’s laugh coming from his office, as she told Charlie Rose in a 2013 interview.
The two quickly began dating, got engaged just three months later, and married in 1993. A year after tying the knot, they moved to Seattle so Bezos could launch what would become Amazon.
