Realme has taken the wraps off its Realme GT 7 and GT 7T smartphones for the global market, though there could be a catch.
After leaving the UK market back in early 2024, Chinese brand Realme made a low-key return earlier this year with the Realme 14 Pro series.
Now, at a launch event held in Paris, it has announced two new global almost-flagship models (the company actually used the phrase “flagship killer” in its launch video blurb) in the Realme GT 7 and Realme GT 7T.
Realme GT 7 specs
The Realme GT 7 runs on a Dimensity 9400e processor, and is fronted by a 6.8-inch AMOLED with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Together with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage, this paints the picture of a not-quite-flagship phone in the vein of the recent Honor 400 Pro and the OnePlus 13R.
The camera system looks to be of a similar ilk, with a 50MP 1/1.56” Sony IMX 906 main sensor, a 50MP 2x telephoto, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 32MP selfie cam. Decent, but not top-grade.
Realme
IP69 certification is a stand-out spec (most flagship phones only extend to IP68), as is a 7,000mAh battery with 120W wired charging. Meanwhile, the phone’s fibreglass-infused rear cover forms part of an IceSense cooling system, which reportedly draws heat away from that new processor.
There’ll also be a limited Realme GT 7 Dream Edition with a snazzy Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team livery and fancy packaging.
Realme GT 7T specs
As for the Realme GT 7T, it’s a slightly lesser version of the plain GT 7. It’s fronted by a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, and powered by a lesser Dimensity 8400-Max processor with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
The main camera is a slightly downgraded 50MP 1/1.56” Sony IMX896, and there’ll only be an 8MP ultra-wide to accompany it – so no telephoto. You also get a 32MP front camera.
Again, you get impressive IP69 dust and water resistance, as well as that stand-out 7,000mAh battery and 120W wired charging.
Realme
Both phones get four years of OS updates and six years of security patches, which places Realme right in the middle of the Android pack.
The Realme GT 7 starts from €749.99, moving up to €899.99 for the limited Dream Edition. Meanwhile, the Realme GT 7T pricing starts from €649.99.
That Euro pricing speaks to the potential catch we mentioned at the outset. We’re not sure whether these phones will be making their way to the UK. Indeed, Realme’s launch plans all feel frustratingly opaque at the moment.
