Google’s search engine has severe risks hidden that should be revealed and taken seriously to avoid issues that could lead to massive losses. The digital world offers us remote possibilities that we increase and cherish with experience and years of practice.
However, we sometimes still make huge mistakes and carry out actions without thoroughly considering their full consequences, and unfortunately, sometimes this is exactly when things we regret profoundly could happen.
Therefore, in order not to get caught off guard, it is crucial that, as Internet users, we remain up to date and read up on as many tips, tricks, and practices as possible to avoid incidents that may harm us badly. In this respect, one of the latest pieces of information to emerge regarding the dangers lurking in digital browsing has to do with the most recognised search engine on the Internet. It’s common knowledge that online sites like the Deep Web conceal serious risks that push the boundaries of legality and, in many cases, surpass them. Therefore, these types of sites should obviously be avoided at all costs.
However, other, smaller dangers, which, if not nipped in the butt, can generate a mountain of worries, also reside in Google searches.
SEO poisoning
Cybercriminals have perfected new fraud methods to add to the already well-known ones. One of the most notorious in recent times is the so-called “SEO poisoning.”
This refers to search engines’ criteria to rank and promote different links, such as harmful ones.
This concept is intrinsically linked to each device’s algorithm, which is based on factors such as the most searched topics or the websites most visited by the individual. Thus, with the inclusion of these fraudulent pages, the algorithm is “poisoned,” calling for danger.
Online surveys
Companies increasingly use forms to gather extensive information about consumers or their target audiences. Thus, criminals lurking in the internet’s dark corners have taken advantage of this trend to carry out their dubious actions.
The links these entities create contain viruses that completely block the computer from which the link is accessed.
Google Authenticator
This tool, which paradoxically symbolises a secure environment, is simulated by hackers to produce the opposite effect once the user is already in the search.
Typically, this scam leads to downloading viruses like those mentioned above. Still, in recent reported cases, some Internet users have revealed the inclusion of “spyware,” used to acquire personal information and compromise data.
This case has been reported through ads with fake phone numbers pretending to be from real companies and through direct contact with users, such as online messages.
In this way, the goal of the fraud is to gain access to information that could endanger the individual’s financial and personal health, resulting in an even greater case of deception. It is essential to be aware of these techniques and try to avoid them in your daily life.
Job offers
The algorithm is modified concerning searches, and criminals may exploit the uncertainty of many unemployed people to attract their attention, unwittingly making them victims of digital fraud. These links often lead to unreliable websites, and their proliferation can lead to the installation of malicious elements that harm the health of the device.
Sales websites
Some unauthorised websites offering counterfeit copies of these products provide the public with information about the payment process. Many linked pages contain malicious intent to obtain personal documents from those who visit the site.
