Deloitte will also be establishing four key centres of operation in Belfast, Cardiff, Manchester and Newcastle.

Professional services firm Deloitte has announced the creation of 500 new technology jobs to be made available over the course of the next three years, to professionals based in Belfast.

The news was revealed at Deloitte’s new Belfast office by Richard Houston, senior partner and CEO of Deloitte UK, and Jackie Henry, Deloitte’s UK managing partner for people and purpose and office senior partner.

According to Deloitte, the new roles are in response to a growing demand for UK-based delivery capabilities and specialist technology expertise. Deloitte is in the process of establishing a number of dedicated technology centres across Northern Ireland and the UK, creating jobs and career opportunities for those in Belfast, Cardiff, Manchester and Newcastle.

Operational from 1 June, the centres will see Deloitte’s technologists design, build and run technologies that address the evolving needs of UK and Northern Irish businesses, via the designing of apps and the embedding of artificial intelligence into software, devices and systems.

New employees will be trained through a series of multi-year programmes and applications from non-technology graduates, career switchers and returners are welcome.

Commenting on the news, Houston said: “The firm’s investment in Belfast underscores our confidence in the long-term economic prospects of Northern Ireland and our dedication to its continued success. Alongside our new office building, we’re creating exciting job and training opportunities for the region’s talent to help build careers for the future.

“The creation of our new technology centres reinforces our commitment to digital skills, as well as our support for the UK’s wider ambition to be a global technology leader.”

Northern Ireland’s economy minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald added: “Today’s announcement of 500 technology jobs across the north is testament to the strong pipeline of talent from our world-class universities and colleges and speaks to how the north’s economy is performing.”
