The long wait for the launch of the Pixel 8a has just ended.
Google surprised everyone by unveiling the next model in the A series a week before the Google I/O conference, rather than at the event – as was the case for the Pixel 7a in 2023.
With pre-orders live now, here’s everything you need to know about buying the Pixel 8a in the UK and US.
When will the Google Pixel 8a be released?
The Pixel 8a was officially announced on 7 May 2024.
Pre-orders are live now, ahead of the phone being released on 14 May 2024 at the Google I/O conference.
How much does the Google Pixel 8a cost?
The Pixel 8a starts at £499/$499 for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Unlike its predecessor, it is also available in a 256GB version, which will set you back £559/$559
As a reminder, the Pixel 7a is only available in an 8GB/128GB version and costs £50 less in the UK. The price in the US remains the same.

These retailers are selling the phone outright. Google’s $100 promotion ends on 19 May, so it’s likely to be the same for the others:
- Google – only 128GB model, free $100 in Google Store credit
- Amazon – free $100 gift card with both models
- Best Buy – free $100 gift card with both models
- Target – only 128GB model, free $100 gift card

T-Mobile has confirmed that the Pixel 8a will also be available there once it goes on sale on 14 May.
