Following news of Monster Hunter Wilds selling over 10 million units in its first month, director Yuya Tokuda revealed more details about Title Update 1. Launching on April 3rd, free for all platforms, it adds Arch-Tempered Rey Dau, Mizutsune, the Grand Hub, and the return of Arena Quests.
However, players can battle a Tempered version of Mizutsune in an eight-star quest at Hunter Rank 41 or higher. The end of May will also feature the addition of eight-star versions of Tempered monsters like Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad.
Perhaps to counter their regular Tempered versions being considered “easy,” these eight-star monsters have received some adjustments. They have increased health and resist wounding, which should, in turn, make it tougher to stun them. Multiplayer scaling will also see some “tweaks,” though further details are unknown.
Tokuda also promised that future updates will feature challenging monsters. Perhaps other eight-star versions of existing monsters are in the works, so stay tuned.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our review – we gave it an eight out of ten.
