Apple last week released iOS 18.3.2 and iPadOS 18.3.2. They come with no fancy new features, but they will help to safeguard iPhone and iPad users from a serious security flaw that has potential to give hackers a free pass to your data.
The flaw was partially blocked in iOS 17.2, but the latest update is believed to remove the vulnerability once and for all.
As reported by TechCrunch, the flaw allowed attackers to use maliciously crafted web content to escape WebKit’s security restrictions. This kind of exploit is particularly concerning because WebKit powers Safari and many other apps running on Apple devices.
Apple has admitted that this flaw may have been exploited in an “extremely sophisticated attack”, targeting users running older versions of its iOS and iPadOS mobile operating systems. While Apple hasn’t disclosed how widespread was the attack or who it affected, this supplementary fix implies that it is a serious issue.

If you haven’t already updated your device, do so now: to update your iPhone or iPad, head to Settings > General > Software Update.
Be warned that updating the OS will also enable Apple Intelligence, but this can be turned off if you do not wish to use it.
