Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Support Studio Opens South Korean Branch

Singapore-based game development studio, Virtuos, has announced that it is opening a development branch in South Korea. The studio is known for its work in co-development of games with many companies, including with Konami for its upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

According to VGC, the company’s goals with opening an office in South Korea revolve around wanting to better manage its worldwide reach, while also being able to work on “unique challenges” that South Korea-based studios often face.

“Gaming is deeply ingrained in Korean culture. As the world’s fourth-largest games market, South Korea has produced some of the world’s biggest hits and remains a top gaming hub,” said Virtuos Seoul general manager Sean Yoon in a statement.

“Establishing the physical studio in Seoul enables Virtuos to directly address the unique challenges faced by Korean studios, with the proximity facilitating closer co-development and collaboration. We look forward to helping bring more Korean games to the global stage and vice versa, unlocking new audiences for studios and new content for players alike.”

The next major title to feature Virtuos as part of its development credits, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on August 28. This release date was announced through a trailer showcased back in February. However, the trailer had also been leaked well before the showcase.

Along with announcing the release date, the trailer also gave us a look at some of the game’s various locations, bosses, and characters. The trailer ended by revealing that the PC and PS5 versions of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will feature the return of the classic Snake vs Monkey game mode.

The Xbox Series X/S version of the game, however, will be replacing Snake vs Monkey with Snake vs Bomberman. This was announced with a trailer in February.

On the PC side of things, hardware requirements for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater were also revealed in February. You can check out more details on the minimum and recommended specs here.

A ground-up remake of classic stealth game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be a 1-to-1 recreation using modern technology. The game will also feature modern features including a new control scheme that players that don’t like the original’s controls can decide to use. There will also be the choice of an over-the-shoulder camera angle.

Konami had released a trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater back in November that showcased how the upcoming title will be a visual upgrade over the PS2 original. The trailer also revealed that the character EVA will be voiced by Jodi Bensen. The Boss, on the other hand, will be voiced by Lori Alan reprising the role.

While neither Konami nor Nintendo have confirmed this yet, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is also rumoured to be in development for the Nintendo Switch 2. More details on that will likely be revealed during the April 2 Direct where Nintendo plans on showcasing the Switch 2’s features.
