Insurance exec lists Cherry Hills mansion for $8M

A local insurance executive has listed the Cherry Hills mansion he bought nearly a decade ago.

Charles “Chuck” McDaniel is asking $8 million for the 11,500-square-foot mansion on Walden Lane. The six-bedroom, eight-bath home sits on a gated 2.5-acre estate. It has been fully remodeled inside and out.

McDaniel bought the property for $3.9 million in May 2015, records show.

The open floor plan features acacia-engineered wood flooring, radiant floor heating, and vaulted ceilings.

The gourmet kitchen is equipped with Wolf, Bosch, and Sub-Zero appliances and includes a butler’s pantry. The main floor also includes a guest suite with a private entrance.

Upstairs, the primary suite boasts a sitting room, fireplace, balcony with mountain views, renovated bath, and a walk-in closet with laundry. The second floor also includes three additional ensuite bedrooms.

The walk-out basement includes another en suite bedroom, a large living area, a wet bar, and a wine cellar.

The estate also includes a three-car and a two-car garage, both with epoxy flooring and custom cabinets.

The exterior includes 16,000 square feet of new pavers, a pool, a hot tub, a heated pool pavilion, pickleball courts, and landscaping with more than 100 trees.

Alyssa McDaniel of Coldwell Banker Realty 44 listed the property on Feb. 21.

Chuck McDaniel, the owner and principal of M5 Insurance LLC, worked for Kansas City-based Lockton Companies for over 20 years, serving as CEO of the Mountain West region from 2000 to 2018.

After resigning in early 2019, he joined Alliant Insurance Services and recruited other Lockton employees. Several lawsuits followed, and court documents revealed that Alliant offered McDaniel nearly $20 million in guaranteed compensation, plus the possibility of an additional $15 million, expecting him to use part of it to attract other Lockton employees.

In December 2023, McDaniel pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment after initially being accused of child sexual assault. The plea agreement required him to complete one year of probation, stay away from his victim, and take a sexual harassment prevention course.

McDaniel left Alliant in January, according to his LinkedIn profile.
