According to the Auxilion report, nearly half of surveyed professionals believe large-scale organisational change could cause disruption.

Auxilion, an Irish IT managed services provider, has released the results of a survey exploring the current attitudes towards work among the Irish population.

Conducted in partnership with Censuswide, Auxilion collected data from 1,000 office workers. What was discovered is that, of those who contributed information, 33pc have started applying for jobs in companies they consider to be more innovative. The same percentage of respondents were found to be uninspired by their current form of employment, with 19pc directly citing a lack of innovation as a reason for leaving their job.

While almost half of organisations undertook a transformation programme in the past year, 49pc of people expressed concerns that large-scale change could cause significant disruption.

When it comes to organisational, 40pc of professionals worry about how it affects job security, while 29pc worry about an increase in everyday workload. 13pc fear a loss of autonomy when it comes to organisational change.

Only half of respondents stated that they feel involved in the decisions that lead to change in their company, while 31pc admitted they do not trust senior leadership to manage this change effectively, citing poor communication (30pc), failure to involve staff (20pc) and rushing decisions (19pc), as common leadership mistakes during times of change or transformation.

Other factors leading to a dissatisfied working life were shown to include poor salary (54pc), a lack of career progression (40pc) and limited opportunities for employees (35pc).

Speaking about the findings, Eleanor Dempsey, the director of strategy, innovation and transformation at Auxilion, said: “To thrive, companies should embrace and empower change. That means investing in technologies to support automation and business process innovation.

“It also means focusing on the change management piece and implementing processes around cost optimisation, demand management and digital capability. In turn, companies can better navigate transformation and support innovation while retaining talent and driving success.”
