We see an increasing amount of remakes each year, which, given how many of them turn out to be legitimately excellent, isn’t necessarily a terrible thing- and it seems like we might have more to look forward to, even from companies that haven’t dipped their toes in the remake waters up to this point. Like 2K, for instance.
As spotted by MP1st, the LinkedIn profile of Brett Shupe, who is a motion capture animator at 2K, suggests that the company is working on a mystery remake. Shupe lists an “upcoming unannounced remake” among the games he has worked on at 2K.
Also listed are unannounced BioShock and Mafia games, as well as an unannounced sports game and a cancelled game developed by Supermassive that was supposedly codenamed “Erebus”. Interestingly, Shupe seems to have removed the remake and the aforementioned “Erebus” from his profile since the publishing of MP1st’s report.
Assuming that 2K does indeed have a remake in development for one of its legacy titles, exactly which game it is that’s receiving that treatment is anyone’s guess- though there’s certainly no shortage of candidates. From BioShock and XCOM to Borderlands and more, the company has plenty of major properties under its belt.
